This issue displays the Many Styles of Gilbert Hernandez: "The Curse of the Crying Woman" (otherwise known as "La Llorona") is Mexican folklore, daringly retold in the vintage Hernandez style. "The Family Thing" is the latest chapter of "Letters from Venus" (the adventures of a little girl in modern-day L.A.), and "She Sleeps with Anyone But Me" is one of those patented surrealistic Beto stories. The issue winds up with "Heroin," a Flash Gordon type space-opera epic centering on heroin smuggling! Once again, a packed program!
