Gilbert (Love and Rockets) Hernandez's eclectic solo title continues with three tales combining the mystical and the mundane. In the cover story, we learn of the heretofore unsuspected existence of magical sprites who give makeovers to the down-and-out, thereby transforming them and lifting their spirits — we could all use that now and then, couldn't we? In the second installment of "Letters from Venus," Petra's daughter gets lost in the crowd at a masquerade festival and enjoys spying on people 'til she meets someone she knows. Yep, it's a patented Hernandez "party" story! And who says comics can't endorse higher spiritual values? Not Gilbert, who closes out the issue with a gallery of saints, including St. Jude, St. Lucy, and St. Martin de Porres. The line between the sacred and the profane is thin in Love and Rockets land, so watch out!
